Meet Our Team
Norma originally trained for and worked in the clothing industry for 18 years, later gaining qualifications in millinery and soft furnishings, so has a wide range of skills to draw on. Before buying the shop with her husband, Brian, she taught in the South West and in Northumberland.
Laurie joined APC as an apprentice, straight from 6th Form. In 2018, she was shortlisted for ‘Small Business Apprentice of the Year’. She recently completed her seamstress and retail assistant training. Laurie particularly enjoys altering stunning bridal and prom gowns, and creating fun window displays.
Irene is a former customer with two favourite occupations throughout her life: hair dressing and sewing. She is our gadget queen, and although she says that the alterations can frequently be challenging, she feels that she is supported by a great team.
Janet is another former customer who previously worked for NCC before becoming a stay-at-home parent, and latterly working for several organisations and voluntary groups. She learned to knit as a challenge, and is now addicted to socks, so is one of our knitting experts. She is currently improving her crochet skills, and learning to sew.
When Anne retired from a long career in admin and IT, she started to attend our knit and natter group, and was asked to join the APC team as a sales assistant and knitting expert. Anne had learnt to knit before starting school, and enjoys trying out new patterns and making changes to customise favourite patterns.
Diane is the newest member of the APC team, and enjoys the daily challenge of working on alterations as a seamstress. In her spare time, her creative pursuits include sewing, knitting, crochet and musical theatre.
Charlotte is our Saturday and holiday retail assistant, and is still in sixth form studying Art, Fashion and Photography. She has learnt many new skills since starting with APC, including crochet.
