Double Faced Knitted Scarf Workshop
Double-Faced Double Knit Scarf NEW workshop with Judith Schur from Needlecase
10.30am – 3.30pm on Saturday 7th February 2026
Full price £70 including materials
The technique of double knitting creates a two-layer fabric, with knit stitches on both sides, and both layers are knitted at the same time. You are creating two unique sides, one mirroring the other.
Using two balls of yarn and a pair of straight knitting needles, or a circular needle, you can knit reversible stitch patterns in more than one colour. Create two-tone or even multi-coloured patterns that appear on both sides of the work. The finished fabric is completely reversible, lending itself beautifully to colour work, contrasting fibres, or simply a knit-faced fabric that is twice as warm. The double knitting process creating a fabric that is dense and reversible. The edges lay flat due to the interlocked layers.
In this workshop we will practise the techniques required to master this fascinating form of knitting, including reading a chart to knit a motif on both sides. You will receive a copy of Judith’s scarf pattern inspired by the needles of a pine cone and start knitting it during the day, taking it home to finish.
Select two colours of James Brett DK with Merino yarn at the time of booking, which are included in the course fee. You will need 3.5mm straight or circular knitting needles for the scarf, available at Amble Pin Cushion with a 10% discount.
