The Hare Tapestry Kit
From a painting by William Morris in collaboration with the V&A museum and brought to you by DMC
The Hare is a section of the larger tapestry, The Forest, which was a collaboration between William Morris, Philip Webb and John Henry Dearle, in 1887. The design is one of William Morris’ most successful compositions. It uses a dense cover of trailing acanthus leaves and five studies of animals and birds. The work was woven at Merton Abbey by Morris and Co.’s most senior weavers William Knight, John Martin and William Sleath.
